Akta Perkawinan (Marriage Certificate)

Joined the Apostille Convention in 2022. For civil marriages, an apostille is attached to the Akta Perkawinan issued by Dukcapil (Civil Registry Office). For Islamic marriages, documents issued by the KUA (marriage registration office under the Ministry of Religious Affairs) are used, and an apostille must likewise be obtained.

⚠️ Important Notes

•

The marriage must first be reported at the Kelurahan (local administrative office) of your place of residence; only then can Dukcapil issue the Akta Perkawinan

•

Islamic marriages (Nikah) use documents issued by the KUA (Kantor Urusan Agama) and are processed through a different route from civil marriages

•

The apostille can be applied for on the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) online portal (apostille.ahu.go.id)

•

Original Indonesian documents must be submitted together with a translation notarized at a Korean notary office or a translation by a sworn translator (Penerjemah Tersumpah)

•

After obtaining the apostille, you can apply for the visa directly after entering Korea without visiting the Korean Embassy (Korean Embassy in Indonesia, located in Jakarta)

•

The criminal record certificate (SKCK, Surat Keterangan Catatan Kepolisian) is issued by the local police station and submitted with an apostille attached

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Are the documents different for Islamic and civil marriages?

A. Yes. Islamic marriages (Nikah) use the marriage certificate issued by the KUA, while civil marriages use the Akta Perkawinan issued by Dukcapil. An apostille is required in both cases.

Q. How long does an apostille take and how do I get one?

A. Apply on the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) online portal (apostille.ahu.go.id). The issuance time varies depending on the competent authority and the time of filing, so it must be confirmed individually.

Q. Where can I get Indonesian documents translated and notarized?

A. This can be done at a Korean notary office, or the documents can be translated by an Indonesian sworn translator (Penerjemah Tersumpah) and then notarized in Korea. Documents cannot be submitted without a translation.

Q. Which Indonesian documents are needed to apply for a Korean F-6 visa?

A. The basic requirements are the Akta Perkawinan (or KUA marriage certificate) + apostille, criminal record certificate (SKCK) + apostille, a copy of the passport, birth certificate + apostille, and 2 photos (3.5×4.5cm).

Q. How does reporting at the Kelurahan differ from issuance by Dukcapil?

A. The Kelurahan is the local administrative office and receiving the marriage report there is the first step. After the report is completed, Dukcapil (city/regency civil registry office) issues the legally effective marriage certificate (Akta Perkawinan).
